The Westminster Wellness Center
Strength training that allows residents to retire their canes. Water aerobics that improve balance and range of motion. Positive changes in health and stamina. A sense of well-being. Healthy living at Westminster Canterbury means a better quality of life.
Westminster Canterbury's Wellness Center—the focal point of the LifeCare community's wellness-oriented environment—exemplifies our commitment to healthy aging. Here, residents pursue total wellness in a safe, senior-specific, fun environment.
The center features a heated, 54-foot by 24-foot pool with water-activated chair lift, a therapeutic spa and daily exercise programs. Specifically designed to meet the needs of seniors, the center offers:
- Heated (87 degrees) pool temperature to provide therapeutic value to residents with arthritis or joint problems
- Room-temperature maintained one to three degrees warmer than the water for comfort
- Pool design tailored for aqua classes and water walking
- Senior-specific locker rooms with walk-in showers
A full-time Wellness Center director tailors health programs to fit individual needs and designs aquatic and studio exercises with an emphasis on wellness or rehabilitation, depending on a resident's health requirements. Residents learn the safe use of all exercise equipment, which includes treadmills, bikes and NuStep.
Flexibility, stretching, aerobic, endurance and strength building—exercise today for healthy living tomorrow.
