In its efforts to meet the needs and desires of today's retirees, Westminster Canterbury completed in 2003 a $22.8 million expansion and renovation project that has touched every aspect of the LifeCare community.

With swimming and fitness programs in the Wellness Center and Health Clinic, to the opening of Woods Edge, a 41-unit luxury apartment complex that offers the LifeCare community’s gracious lifestyle to new retirees, Westminster      Canterbury continues to offer the choices residents expect in retirement living.

Completed in the fall of 2003, Westminster Canterbury's Renaissance includes:

  • Private nursing care rooms: Conversions on the fifth and sixth floors of Hearthside Assisted Living added 34 private rooms in nursing care, bringing the number of private nursing care rooms to 55.

  • Memory Support Center: A one-story addition next to Hearthside offers safe and comfortable surroundings to Alzheimer’s residents. The center features an enclosed wandering garden where residents can enjoy the outdoors. The center is joined to Hearthside by an Eden atrium.

  • New landscaping of the outdoor terrace.

The Renaissance is more than just bricks and mortar. It is an expansion of Westminster Canterbury's lifestyle.

Renovations have added additional activity space, a computer learning center, an art studio, and an enlarged and remodeled reception area. Residents have discovered an expanded selection of materials in The Strickler Library.

Additions and renovations to the Westminster Dining Room and Canterbury Cafe have translated into three distinctive dining venues: a casual cafe, informal buffet and formal dining area.
