In 1975, area Presbyterian and Episcopal
churches joined together with a noble vision. Their aim was to
create an unequalled retirement community offering a Christian environment
open to all, regardless of religious belief, race or national origin.
This would be a haven where residents would be secure, no matter what life
might bring.
This would be a community where people
could come with the utmost assurance that their own well-being was the
foremost concern. This would be a community filled with the social,
cultural and spiritual activities that give meaning to life.
For more than 20 years Westminster
Canterbury has been fulfilling the original vision.
Westminster Canterbury is affiliated with,
and guided by, the high standards of the Episcopal and Presbyterian
Churches. It is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of
community leaders. Southwestern Episcopal Homes and Westminster
Presbyterian Homes each appoint one-half of the Board members. This
group of individuals is made up of distinguished citizens, business
executives and professionals.
