What is Outpatient Therapy and how do I get services?

Outpatient therapy is a form of physical health improvement that provides a treatment plan to support recovery and rehabilitation that offers patients the ability to receive services within their community, instead of having to stay in a facility.

Therapists at Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg provide personal care tailored to your needs with convenient, flexible hours in our new gym on our campus at 501 V.E.S. Road.

You don’t have to have a referral to utilize Westminster Canterbury's outpatient rehabilitation services. However, there will be times your healthcare provider may recommend therapy. You have the ability to request that your therapy sessions be scheduled with Westminster Canterbury-Lynchburg.
What kinds of services are available?
We offer the following services within our new outpatient gym
- Physical therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Speech and language therapy
- Patient and family education
We also offer short-term rehabilitation services through our inpatient Rehab Center where each patient has a private room, full bathroom and meals are provided. Westminster Canterbury-Lynchburg offers an excellent staff-to-patient ratio. Our services have been recognized with the Virginia Health Quality Award for patient care, and our health center has consistently received five-star quality ratings by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
How many days a week do people receive outpatient therapy?

The number of visits needed will depend on the patient’s treatment plan. Some patients will be recommended to do therapy 2 to 3 times a week while others may only need to visit once a week until their symptoms get better.
What makes Westminster's Therapy services different from other providers?

Unlike other therapy providers, we believe that patients are more than just a quota. We work hard to provide very personalized care, building a bond between the care provider and the patient. Patients receive individualized attention. If there are 3 patients scheduled, there are 3 therapists to work with them.
Who pays for therapy services?
1. Insurance:
  Therapy services can be covered by insurance, including commercial plans and Medicare.
2. Cash Payments
  Patients may also pay privately if insurance is not an option.
